Anadolu Isuzu will utilize solar energy for 55 percent of its electricity needs

Turkey's commercial vehicle brand Anadolu Isuzu continues to its sustainability-focused steps with new additions. The photovoltaic solar power plant (SPP), currently being installed on the roof of Anadolu Isuzu's modern facilities in Çayırova, will meet 55 percent of the company's total electricity needs.

Following the tender, application, approval processes and rooftop mobilization stages, which have been completed successfully, the photovoltaic solar power plant will begin to provide the green energy needed by Anadolu Isuzu's modern medium-size coach, bus and truck production facilities with an installed capacity of 5,500 MWp, after assembly of the panels.

Anadolu Isuzu General Manager Tuğrul Arıkan made the following assessment on the subject:

“As Anadolu Isuzu, we consider sustainability as the focus of all our activities. In this respect, we continue our activities focusing on ‘green transformation’ without interruption. We aim to minimize the environmental impact of the vehicles we manufacture as well as all our production and operating processes, thus leading our industry in green transformation. Under this goal, we attach great importance to minimizing the emissions stemming from our operations while we have been further concentrating on the production of environmentally friendly and zero-emission vehicles. As of August, we will begin meeting our total electricity need at a rate, as high as 55 percent, through the solar power plant that we started to install on the roofs of our production facilities in Çayırova. By the last quarter of 2022, we will be using green energy to a large extent. We aim to meet all of our energy needs from renewable energy sources in the coming period, in accordance with our efforts to comply with the Paris Agreement, the European Green Deal and our environmentally friendly production approach. We will continue our investments focused on sustainability and green transformation without interruption."

In April, Anadolu Isuzu signed the international Science-Based Targets Initiative (SBTi), supporting efforts against the negative effects of climate change and global warming. The company, as a member, also provides support to the "Drive to Zero" initiative, encouraging the 100% zero-emission target in new truck and bus sales until 2040 in the commercial vehicle sector.
