Anadolu Isuzu will utilize solar energy for 70% of the electricity needs in its production facilities

Turkey's commercial vehicle brand Anadolu Isuzu continues to lead the sector with strong steps taken in line with its sustainability goals. The solar power plant (SPP), which Anadolu Isuzu started to install on the roof of its facilities in Çayırova to benefit from green energy at the highest level, has been put into operation and started to produce electricity at full capacity.

Completed in line with the planned timing through all installation steps successfully, the photovoltaic solar power plant provides 55% of the green energy needed by Anadolu Isuzu's modern medium size coach, bus and truck production facilities with its 5,500 MWp installed capacity. Anadolu Isuzu aims to increase this rate to 70% in the second phase of the project.

Anadolu Isuzu General Manager Tuğrul Arıkan made the following assessment on the subject:

“As Anadolu Isuzu, we consider sustainability as one of our top priorities. We attach great importance to minimizing the environmental impact of both our vehicles and all our operating processes, and we continue our activities focused on 'green transformation' uninterruptedly. In accordance with our goals to comply with the European Green Deal, the Paris Agreement and our sustainability vision, we started the installation of the solar power plant on the roof of our modern facilities in Çayırova in June. Installation of the solar power plant has been successfully completed, and we currently meet the electrical energy needed in our production facilities from green energy at a high rate of 55%. We will continue to lead our sector in green transformation by continuing our investments in the field of sustainability uninterruptedly, as we always have. In our projection for the next period, we will increase our green energy rate to 70% with our SPP second phase project.”

Anadolu Isuzu is actively involved in international institutions that support efforts to combat climate change and the negative effects of global warming. In this context, Anadolu Isuzu signed the "Drive to Zero" initiative, which supports the 100% zero emission target in the commercial vehicle sector, and the UN (United Nations) Global Compact platform, as well as the Science-Based Targets Initiative (SBTi).

Having committed to the Science-Based Targets initiative, Anadolu Isuzu is taking serious steps to achieve its decarbonization goals.
